Second chance Reuse shop

We reflect modern thinking in waste management, providing the residents of Clarence and surrounding municipalities with positive alternatives to dispose of their solid waste.

MPWTS operates under a long term contract with Clarence City Council. Our objective is to provide a high standard facility for all customers to practice waste reduction in an efficient, safe, compliant and comfortable environment. The Second Chance Re-Use Shop reflects positive recycling attitudes and with a customer focus. It provides the general public with a wide range of low cost pre-loved goods.

Acceptance disclaimer (at the discretion of) +

Only goods with resale value will be accepted and acceptance of these goods is at the discretion of the staff member on duty.

Electrical Test & Tag +

Most electrical items are tested and tagged to make sure that they are electrically safe to use, where we are unable to test the item it may be placed for sale as untested (marked appropriately as such) usually for parts only.

Electrical testing ensures an item is electrically safe it does not guarantee full functionality of an item.

Building Yard +

The building yard provides items for resale that include timber; steel; bricks and pavers; all manner of pipes; doors; bathroom fittings and fixtures; paint; bbq’s; the odd boat; 44 gallon drums; and lots, lots more.

Prices (Why do we charge money for recovered items?) +

Our business operates a waste transfer facility; a significant portion of the operation is devoted to the recovery and recycling of materials that are disposed of through general waste. Waste recovery requires:

Millions of dollars’ worth of machinery Employee labour (we have over 20 people employed in our business) Payment for Electricity, Rates and Taxes etc. Sorting, cleaning and checking items to make sure they are safe and usable Providing a location for you to view and shop in relative comfort Paying the price for the item(s) you purchase helps us to operate our business successfully and keeps food on the table for over 20 families as well as keeping their children clothed, housed and educated. Recovering these items also reduces the amount of waste that goes to landfill.

Thank you for your contribution, it helps us, our employees and the environment.
